Belgium finally breathed a sigh of relief in Euro 2024 as they secured their first win of the tournament with a 2-0 victory over Romania in Cologne.

The win moves Belgium up to second place in Group B, level on points with Russia but behind on goal difference. Romania, meanwhile, are bottom of the group with no points.

Belgium started the game brightly and took the lead early on when Tielemans fired home from outside the area.

De Bruyne was the driving force behind Belgium's attacking play and he doubled their lead in the second half with a typically brilliant goal.

The Manchester City midfielder picked up the ball on the left wing and drove into the Romania area before curling a shot into the top corner.

Belgium were comfortable for the rest of the game and could have added to their lead, with De Bruyne hitting the post late on.

The win will be a relief for Belgium, who had lost their opening game of the tournament to Russia.

They will now face Denmark in their final group game on Monday, knowing that a win will see them qualify for the knockout stages.
